Our Mission
We will conduct an opportunity assessment for identifying viable climate mitigation actions in Hawaii’s natural and working lands and craft equitable policy and programs. Together, these efforts will support diverse stakeholders in their efforts to advance local cultural needs and contribute to meeting legislated mandates concerning soil health, crop yields, and carbon sequestration.
Our Goals
Our goal is to craft equitable and effective policies and programs that enable diverse groups to enact changes on the land that result in GHG sequestration and the protection of natural resources while meeting local food production goals, biodiversity, watershed protection, and social and cultural values.
Our research creates data to develop a stakeholder-driven outcome that incentivizes ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable land management practices. The information provided will be confidential and presented anonymously to reach land managers, private entities, and community involvement. We aim to support policies that enhance and support the work done by land managers, and avoid the conversion of natural working lands. We want to avoid top down decision making by emphasizing stakeholder involvement in designing incentives that benefit both the stakeholder and the land use.
